People of Color Techies
The goal of the program is to mentor individuals from underrepresented communities so they become professional-level, movement involved technologists. Participants in this program are either staff or volunteers for community organizing groups, not traditional ‘techies’. This intensive year-long program combines four 2-day face-to-face trainings, ongoing weekly mentoring, and peer-to-peer exchanges to share experiences and learnings.
The trainee will be able to perform all server administration functions as well as basic code writing and other skills needed to plan, maintain and upgrade any organization or movement’s technology as well as advise organizations on the selection and use of technology and software available. Upon completion of the program, participants are asked to become co-mentors for the individuals in subsequent programs.
PTP is working in partnership with May First/People Link on this program.
