Grants

The PTP Grant Program

Since its inception, PTP has offered grants to community organizing groups. We consider this to be a critical part of our program offerings because it provides a unique funding stream for innovative models of technology use in community organizing.

Our current grants pool is a REVERB project.  CLICK HERE to find out more.

The organizing groups that we collaborate with often remind us of the need for more funds for technology. We heard the same while conducting our research, which you can read in the report From Exclusion to Inclusion: Strengthening Community-led Organizations with Effective Technology. Just as the constituencies organizations serve are not benefiting as much as they could be from technology's promise, community-led organizations working in marginalized communities face an "organizational digital divide" caused by resource scarcity that limits their ability to obtain and utilize available technologies.  For this reason, we have committed to funding efforts to increase the effective use of technology in community-led organizations.

Past PTP Grant Programs

Organizing Technology Grants Program

Our flagship grants program is the Organizing and Technology Grants Program. We are NOT currently running this program, due mainly to a lack of funds, certainly NOT due to a lack of interest. In our last round we received 180 qualified proposals requesting a total of $1.7 million, but we only had $100,000 in funds. This program is for community organizing groups working in low income communities and communities of color. If your organization fits that description, click to fill out an organizational information form [link] that will make sure your organization is on our email list for future notices.

VOTER Project

The VOTER Project was designed for non-profit 501(c)3 organizing groups doing voter education and voter turnout work in 2008. This program was designed to improve the capacity of community-led organizing groups to integrate their voter projects with their on-going organizing programmatic work. This program includes an opportunity for 4-8 organizations to receive grants to support this work.
