What We Offer
The Progressive Technology Project focuses primarily on building the capacity of groups organizing in communities of color, immigrant, and/or low-income communities across the United States. Our mission is to help organizations achieve their goals more effectively and efficiently. We do that by helping them build their capacity — infrastructure, skills, understanding, and practice — to integrate technology strategically into the life of their organizations.
PTP combines trainings, consulting, limited funding, and infrastructure development at various levels to meet the technology needs of grassroots organizing groups. We have found that these offerings are most effective if our engagement with organizations is sustained, and if staff in leadership levels participate in our programs.
Here is a look at our offerings:
PowerBase
PowerBase is PTP’s project to create a database for community organizers, and it’s currently in development. Read more about this project and the groups participating in the pilot phase.
REVERB
PTP helps organizations get more bang for their buck out of their communications activities through REVERB. Through training that involves working on actual projects, PTP works to help organizations streamline their online and offline communications activities to more effectively support their work.
The Partnership Project
The Partnership Project is PTP’s year-long intensive capacity building program which combines consulting, training, and technical assistance to help build organizational skills and effectiveness. Read more about this project and the groups participating as partners.
TechCamp
PTP offers basic technology training, both in person and online, to help organizers get up to speed with the tools that will help them do their work. See TechCamp Online for information and the latest schedule of online technology training webiners. See TechCamp for a sense of what to expect from the in-person training.
The Power On Network
The PON is PTP’s response to the constant shortage of resources and time that grassroots organizing groups face in carrying out their work. This is a private peer-to-peer network designed to facilitate knowledge-sharing about technology and organizing. Read more here or visit the PON.
