Kwame A. Tsikata, Development Associate
Prior to PTP, he had experience as a student intern with Grassroots Solutions, a national consulting firm specializing in grassroots advocacy, organizing, political field consulting, training, and targeting. Kwame is especially interested in arts and social justice, particularly the role of arts in fostering political and economic freedom for the underprivileged. Most recently, he spearheaded a summit on music and social justice “Beats, Raps, Streets and Justice,” which engaged local community organizers, artists, academics and a cross-generational audience. The summit created a forum to highlight issues affecting the urban African-American and Latino demographic such as police brutality and educational disparity. He has been a volunteer with the Minnesota Participation Project and is planning on doing some work in the future with Twin Cities youth groups working in the realm of the arts. Kwame finds writing to be a fulfilling vocation and was an editor-in-chief and contributor of a newsletter in college. His other interests include performance art, music, cultural studies/philosophy, soccer, film, basketball. He is fluent in Twi and English. |
